The Melville Quilter’s Guild began in 1988 with 27 members and is still going strong today with 60 members. Members meet every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Melville Community Works Building.

The members work on their own projects, group projects are then usually donated to people, and sometimes the members have workshops instructed by other members or by quilters from other areas.

Every second year the guild puts on the Melville & District Spring Festival of Quilts Competition. This spectacular festival is held downtown in Melville at the Merv Moore Sportsplex. For two days people can come and marvel at around 100 beautiful quilts made by quilters form all over the country. The Quilters Guild puts on a show only every two years to allow quilters enough time to prepare their masterpieces.

As for visitors to the quilt show, this is a real treat for young and old! Besides experiencing the spectacular display of quilts, people are also able to see quilting demonstrations, quilting workshops and are able to buy supplies at the merchant mall.

Members of the guild would like to invite every one to come and experience this magnificent event!
